Q.-If my son/daughter gets cut do I my $100 back?
A.-Yes, if your son/daughter is cut or Quits their team within the first 2 weeks of the official start of the season.
Q.-Can I turn in my forms without a check to the athletics office?
A.-No, we want all completed forms and check to be turned in together.
Q.-How long is my physical good for my son/daughter?
A.-1 year (365 days) from the date of the physical.
Q.-Do all sports start at the same time.
A.-No. There are 3 sport seasons Fall, Winter, Spring. BOYS GOLF starts 1 week prior to all of the other Fall Sports.
Q.-How does eligibility work at Chaparral High School?
A.-Grades are checked weekly, every Wednesday. If a student/athlete has 2 or more F’s or 1 Failing Citizenship grade then the student/athlete will be considered ineligible for all contest that occur that next week. This gives the team and coaches time to make an adjustment. If a student has an F in citizenship they will also miss all contests the next week (Monday - Saturday).
Q.-My son/daughter had 2 F’s at the end of the semester. Would they still be eligible to compete against other schools.
A.-Yes, provided that the student/athlete was enrolled in 7 classes. A student/athlete must have passed 2.5 Carnegie units(5 classes) of credit per semester. The student/athlete must pass 5 classes that give a letter grade, a pass/fail course does not count. If a student has not passed 2.5 Carnegie units(5 classes) then they would be ineligible to compete for the first 6 weeks of the next semester.
Q.-What sports do you have to offer at Chaparral?
A.-Fall Sports -Football, Boys Soccer, Boys Tennis, Softball, Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, Boys Golf, Cheerleading, Pom Pons.
Winter Sports-Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Girls Swimming, Cheerleading, Pom Pons.
Spring Sports-Boys Swim and Dive, Baseball, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Track, Cheerleading.
Q.-If my son/daughter has a school fine can this keep them from being cleared to participate in athletics?
A.-Yes, if the student has a fine they will not be cleared until they pay the balance.
Q.-If my son/daughter had poor grades in middle school will they be ineligible their freshman year at Chaparral?
A.-All freshman start with full eligibility once they enter high school. Only high school grades are used.
Q.-Do all sports make cuts for their teams?
A.-Not all sports, check with the coach to find out if there are cuts and how big the team will be for the season.
Q.-Will Chaparral ever get a pool.
A.-The answer would be no. We do use Parker Recreational Center a few days a week in the morning and also travel to Grandview High School for practice and home meets.
